Call Before you Dig

Call Before you Dig 811No matter the size of your digging project, it is important to “Call Before You Dig” (CBYD) or “Click Before You Dig!” By making one simple free phone call or by completing a simple online form, you can protect yourself and your community from costly fines, repairs, personal injury, or inconvenient outages.

At least 3 business days prior to digging, please call 811 or (888) 721-7877. A representative will record the location of the digging site and notify PDEC and other member utility companies of your digging plans. Each utility will send a representative to your dig site and mark the location of their lines. Once all utilities have identified and marked their respective lines, you are clear to proceed – carefully. Please remember, there is a 2 and a half foot allowance on either side of each marking.

As many as 200,000 utility lines are unintentionally cut each year because CBYD is ignored. Don’t let your project become part of this statistic.

You may request CBYD support at the 811 website or by calling 811. Either way, your underground utility lines will be identified and marked.
